Bartica Karate Dojo Creates History Around the World

The Guyana Karate College Bartica hosted their dojo Grading which takes place every three months on the 17th of September, 2022. The grading, which was done at 13:00 hours at the Bartica community center ground multipurpose facility, saw 15 persons putting in their best efforts to elevate their ranks.

Master Frank Woon A Tai, the leader of the International Karate Daigaku (IKD) and Master Sensei of the Guyana Karate College (GKC), on his opening remarks encouraged the young and vibrant participants to be calm and focused as they carry out the training techniques.

Special invitee, Bartica’s Mayor Gifford Marshall, who delivered a short speech, asked the 15 participants to grasp self confidence and discipline, and to put their all in their karate Grading.

The 15 participants were: Mark Ambrose, Paul king, Marcus Ambrose, Kavita Hansraj, Ketana Williams, Naveen Williams, Richard Mohabeer jr, Shemia Hing, Shaquine Lewis, Dastan DeFreitas, Mathayus DeFreitas, Somara Hart, Ronjay Gittens, Jeremiah Charles.

All participants were graded on their power, focus, speed, and techniques. The grading lasted for 1 hours, 10 minutes after which the results were announced. Master Frank was pleased to announce that all participants skipped a rank and were promoted to another rank.

Guyana karate college Bartica students created history today. This dojo is very unique because this is the only dojo ever throughout the world where all students skipped an entire rank. The Sensei and students must have been working hard, and I’m very proud to be here today to witness this memorable moment”- Master Frank Woon A Ti, leader of the International karate Daigaku.

In closing, Master Frank mentioned to the newly promoted ranks that there will be a launching and awards ceremony on the 22nd of October 2022, and The Bartica Dojo will be asked to nominate persons to attend the ceremony. Persons will be recognized with an international medal of service for their contributions which helped develop the Karate Daigaku.
