Last updated: September 26, 2022 at 23:14 pmWell known political activist and self-proclaimed leader of the questionable NGO “Caribbean Guyana Institute for Democracy,” has today, 26th of September, 2022, announced that he has directed his lawyer, Nigel Hughes, to file a 100-million Guyana dollar defamation lawsuit against Mikhail Rodrigues, popularly known as the Guyanese Critic.
Today I directed my Guyana Attorney at Law Mr. Nigel Hughes to file a $100 million lawsuit against Mikhail Rodrigues know as “Guyanese Critic” for slander and defamation on a Facebook Talk show today, September 26, 2022.
Rickford Burke
It is not clear to this publication at this point what were the exact statements on which Burke is basing his defamation lawsuit. However, Rodrigues is a very outspoken journalist and social media personality who doesn’t have much of a cap for his mouth. Recently, Burke has been suspected of being involved in a failed extortion campaign against a local businessman. Rodrigues has said openly that he believes that Burke is indeed involved in the crime, but Burke has distanced himself from the whole scenario, saying that he had nothing to do with the two journalists who implicated him.
This is not the first time that a lawsuit is being drawn up against the Guyanese Critic. In February this year, a photographer, Keron Bruce, suspected of being linked to a controversial news outlet, Mudwata, filed a 100+ million dollar lawsuit against the Guyanese Critic for accusing him of being linked to the said news outlet, which he denies having any involvement with.
The Guyanese Critic has laughed in the face of both lawsuits, saying that he has no apologies to make nor will he retract any of his statements.
