Guyanese Citizen Describes Harrowing Experience of Being Robbed at Gunpoint in Georgetown (Redirected)

A prominent Guyanese citizen, Mr. Frank Satnarine, described a harrowing experience of being robbed at gunpoint in the capital city of Georgetown on the evening of Saturday, 23rd of July, 2022 at around 10:30 PM. These types of gunpoint robberies, perpetuated by youths on bicycles, are unfortunately not uncommon in Guyana, but are poorly reported upon, and even more poorly addressed by the Guyana Police Force. Guyanese, and foreigners visiting Guyana, are left at the mercy of these robbers who carry out their attacks as though it were a full time job both in the day and night.

Woman Beaten, Verbally Abused, Punished, and Humiliated for Allegedly Stealing Chairs from a Church

A disturbing video circulated today, 7th of July, 2022, on social media which shows a group of persons beating, verbally abusing, punishing, and humiliating a young Guyanese woman for allegedly stealing a number of chairs from a church. Several public figures and organizations have come forward to condemn the act which can be described as using a computer device to humiliate a person. Laws have recently been drafted to criminalize the use of a computer device to humiliate a person.

Shuman Throws Support Behind Jagdeo in Light of Recent Controversy

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mr Lennox Shuman, in a letter to the Editor yesterday, 21st of June, 2022, threw full support behind Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo after allegations leveled by Vice News that he was heavily involved in corrupt practices. “…the same humble young man that I once knew, has become a brilliant tactician in a country that otherwise would have been relegated to a dictatorship had it not been for his efforts.”

Two Sentenced to Death, but Execution is Unlikely

Two men, Mark Dhuman and Andre Azimullah, has today, 8th of June, 2022, been sentenced to death for the 2017 slaying of businessman Danian Jagdeo. Jagdeo was trailed from the upper Corentyne area down to a shop at Alness Village, Corentyne, while he was plying his trade as a phone card vendor. A man using a motorcycle carrying a false number plate tracked him to the shop and robbed him at gunpoint. Danian put up a fight during which he was shot by the armed robber.

Texas Shooting: Police Response Was Painfully Slow

On Tuesday, 24th of May, 2022, at around 11:30 Texas time, a deranged youth, perhaps possessed by the devil or having psychological problems, went on a killing rampage. His target: an elementary school of 7 to 10 years old. Reports are that he had shot his grandmother at home before leaving in a car. Clad in body armor, 18-year old Salvador Ramos was armed with a handgun, an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, and high-capacity magazines.

Decomposing Body of Teacher Found, Husband Wanted

41-year-old Omega Ault, a teacher of Crane Public Road, West Coast Demerara, was this afternoon, Friday, 27th of May, 2022, discovered dead and in a state of decomposition at her home. Her brother, who had been calling her for about two weeks with no response, decided to visit her home. Upon knocking and receiving no response, he decided to break into the house and came face to face with the gruesome discovery.
