Tourism Stakeholders from across the country gathered in the mining town of Linden, on Tuesday 1st of November, 2022 for the Launch of Tourism Awareness Month which is being observed under the theme ‘All Sectors, One Tourism.’ Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips, while delivering the feature address noted that tourism over recent times has proven to be a major contributor to Guyana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The actions of two Guyanese men on a dangerous cliff of a waterfall in Region 7, Guyana, South America, has caught the world’s attention. The video, which was first posted in 2018 by Leon Mendonca, and reposted by the Guyana, South America Facebook Page in 2022, was viewed by more 800,000 people so far, and it is going viral.
This comes as no surprise. An international travel magazine has listed the Kaieteur Falls in Region 8, Guyana, South America amongst the world’s most amazing or “breathtaking” waterfalls.
UK travel writer, Steph Dyson, wrote an article about Guyana calling it a place of mystery and intrigue, and says that, from a tourism perspective, this hidden gem “has no comparison.”
