Twenty-one-year-old Devon Simon was born and raised in, as he put it, “a beautiful little village called Rewa” in the North Rupununi Savannahs of Guyana, South America.
He started painting when he was twelve years old. During his 7-year and counting painting career, the ambitious youth faced many stumbling blocks. For example, he has never earned enough money to purchase his own art materials. However, the determined lad made use of exercise books and other available material in expressing his artistic desires.
“I was never given some art pencils or sketch pads in those times, but I continued drawing on every blank pages I found on any books.”

Furthermore, Devon said that he had never been taught by anyone how to draw or paint but that it is a natural talent that springs from deep within. He was inspired by his cousin, Ransford Simon, who is also an artist.
Onto this very day, I’ve never been to any schools of art, but I continue because I know I wanted to be more – just as any ambitious person. I’ve dreamed a lot of being someone bigger and better in life. So I stick up to my dreams to see what really I can achieve in the future..
