Guyana is a breeding ground for talent, and in this article, we’re going to feature an eight year old who has an unnatural natural ability for painting and art in general. Meet Deshonna London – the young Guyanese girl who was born on the 15th of October, 2012 at the Linden Hospital Complex to Parents Shion Peters and Deon London.

It’s not everyday that you meet an 8-year old who can draw like this!

According to Deshonna’s mom, Shion, the young girl’s ambition is to become a doctor since she draws inspiration from her aunt who is a doctor in training. But at the same time, she has a passion for art and during the lockdown, she redirected her energies into developing this passion.

While using her tablet, she came across some beautiful pictures and wanted to do beautiful paintings and drawings too. She said, “mommy all I need is paint and paper and I will be happy.” So I honored her wishes.

Deshonna is a student of Amelia Ward’s Primary School in Linden, Region 10, and she is currently moving on the Grade 4. The young artist would like to advise children that instead of being bored during the lockdown, they should channel their energies into something productive that they are passionate about. Now isn’t that a bit of advice!

Join us in cheering Deshonna on as she follows her passions of both art and medicine. Be sure to give her some encouragement by following her Facebook Page: Deshonna’s Art Gallery.
