The Demerara River – Crossing by Speedboat

Be sure to like our Facebook Page: Guyana, South America for more!

Hundreds of commuters cross the Demerara River via speedboat everyday from Georgetown to Vreedenhoop and vice-versa.

The fare is 100 Guyana dollars per person.

Sometimes, the waters are very rough and the boats rock violently. Nevertheless, these passengers find taking the speedboat much faster and more convenient than traveling by bus from the West Bank or the West Coast to and from Georgetown, Guyana, South America.
