Kurupukari Village is located along the Lethem – Linden Trail about 5 hours’ drive from Lethem and about 8 hours when coming from Linden, Guyana, South America.
In Kurupukari, the Essequibo River cuts across the trail as it flows along. Although the location may be referred to as the “Kurupukari River Crossing,” it is important to note that the name of the river that crosses the trail is not “Kurupukari” but the Essequibo River.
The ferry takes vehicles across the river at Kurupukari every hour of the day from 6 AM to 6 PM.
As of August 2019, there are ongoing talks about constructing a bridge over the Essequibo River at Kurupukari.
