The Guyanese town of Bartica is located on the left bank of the Essequibo Rirver in Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region 7), Guyana, South America. The town is located at the confluence of the Cuyuni and Mazaruni Rivers with the Essequibo River.
If you take a speedboat and drive out into the rivers, you will see the visible difference in colors of water where the Cuyuni/Mazaruni/Essequibo rivers run side by side for several miles.
Dubbed the “gateway to the interior” the town is a launching point for people who mine gold and diamonds in interior locations.
