Golden Grove Village – East Bank Demerara – The Ashoka Tree

The village of Golden Grove is located along the East Bank of Demerara right after Great Diamond – about 30 minutes’ drive from the capital city of Georgetown in Guyana, South America.

In this picture is the Ashoka rainforest tree of scientific name “saraca asoka” photographed along the Golden Grove Public Road. In Hinduism, the Ashoka Tree is a considered a sacred tree.

Eugene Correia International Airport – Ogle

The Eugene Correia International Airport is located in Ogle on the East Coast of Demerara, Guyana, South America.

The airport was formerly named Ogle International Airport, however, one year after taking office, the David Granger Administration renamed the aiport to Eugene Correia International Airport in honor of a Guyanese businessman whom he said had contributed significantly to Guyana’s development.

The change of name was greatly controversial and several businesses had moved to prevent this from happening. Nevertheless, the President used the powers of his office to implement the change.

The airport is serviced by two airlines: Air Services and Trans Guyana. The photo above shows a Trans – Guyana aircraft being prepared for takeoff.

Diamond Housing Scheme is located at Great Diamond, East Bank Demerara, Guyana, South America. The entrance to the Diamond Housing Scheme is located just a few meters away from the Demerara Bank, the GBTI Bank and the Republic Bank in Great Diamond Village, East Bank Demerara, Guyana, South America. The photo above shows vehicles driving into the huge Housing Scheme via the entrance road.

The Demerara Harbour Bridge

The Demerara Harbour Bridge is an 1851 meters long floating bridge which was commissioned on the 2nd of July 1978. The bridge spans a 4-mile gap between the East Bank and the West Bank of the Demerara River. As you can see in the picture above, there is a pedestrian lane in addition to the vehicular lane. The Demerara Harbour Bridge can be found on the East Bank at Peter’s Hall – about 4 miles from Georgetown, Guyana, South America. It crosses over to the village of Schoon Ord on the West Bank of the Demerara River.

Great Diamond is located right after Little Diamond and right before Golden Grove when traveling from Georgetown to Timehri on the East Bank of the Demerara River in Guyana, South America.
