The town of Lethem is located to the south of Guyana, South America. It forms a border with the Brazilian municipality of Bonfim, Brazil. Lethem was declared a town by the David Granger Administration in the year 2016 – about 1 year after taking office.

The town of Lethem is located in Region 9 of Guyana, South America. Lethem consists of the Lethem Regional Hospital, the Lethem Town Council and the Lethem Power Company – which is solely responsible for supplying electricity to the residents of Lethem. At present, there is no Lethem Secondary School – the students attend St. Ignatius Secondary in the neighboring village of St. Ignatius. However, there are talks ongoing of setting up a Secondary School to serve the residents of Lethem.

The border town of Lethem in Region 9, Guyana, South America, provides an access point for people traveling to and from neighboring Brazil. It also provides a gateway to many parts of Guyana’s interior – including the well-known gold mining area called “Marudi.” This photo shows the roundabout which is located near to the Lethem Power Company building. Turn left to to the Lethem Airport, turn right to the Lethem Market or Post Office and do a U-turn to return along Lethem’s Main Commercial Highway – Barrack Retreat.

Lethem was declared a town in the year 2016 by the David Granger-led APNU/AFC Coalition government – about one year after taking office. This photo shows a part of the main commercial highway in Lethem – which is called “Barrack Retreat.” It stretches for about 2 miles from the Lethem Power Company junction to the roundabout at the other end. Lethem is located in Region 9 of Guyana, South America.

The border town of Lethem provides many spectacular views of the Rupununi Savannahs. Here is one taken from the third floor of the Amazonas Hotel in Lethem. The Amazonas Hotel is one of Lethem’s finest places to stay when traveling to Lethem in Guyana, South America. This photo shows a magnificent view of the Kanuku Mountains from the third floor of the Amazonas Hotel.

Rememberance Day 2019 – March Past – Lethem

Rememberance Day is an international memorial day observed on the second Sunday of November every year. The day is set aside to commemorate the sacrifices of soldiers during the First and Second World Wars. In this photo, students from the Ignatius Secondary School in the Rupununi Savannahs of Guyana take part in a march past in Lethem, Guyana, South America.

Lethem is the gateway to many interior locations of Guyana, South America. Located towards the south of Guyana in Region 9, the town also forms a border with the Brazilian municipality of Bonfim. In addition, Lethem is a transit point for travelers going to and coming from neighboring Brazil.

When in Lethem, some things you can do include visiting the Kumu Falls, the Moco Moco Hydrodam, one of the many ranches and nature resorts such as Surama Village.

The Rupununi Rodeo celebrations take place every year on the Easter Weekend at the Rodeo Ground in Lethem, Rupununi, Guyana, South America. It consists of astounding performances by highly skilled cowboys and cowgirls of the Rupununi Savannahs who ride the wild bulls and horses.

The Takutu River Bridge – Guyana/Brazil

The Takutu River separates Guyana from Brazil at Lethem, Region 9, Guyana, South America. The Takutu River Bridge is an intelligently designed architectural marvel which connects the two countries. This is the view when you’re coming over the Takutu River Bridge from Brazil to Guyana.

The Rupununi Savannahs of Guyana is known for its beautiful sceneries, and Lethem is no exception! Here’s a beautiful twilight captured in Lethem. The photo shows a scene towards the end of main commercial highway – Barrack Retreat – where the Takutu Hotel and the Lethem Power Company are located opposite each other.

Some things you can do when in Lethem include visiting the refreshing Kumu Falls, Moco Moco Falls tour, a trip to neighboring Brazil and lot’s more.
