Passengers disembark after crossing the Demerara River from the Stabroek Market Wharf to the Parika Stelling in Vreedenhoop, Guyana, South America.

The cost of crossing by boat from the Stabroek Wharf to Vreedenhoop stelling is 100 Guyana dollars per person. Many people who work in Georgetown choose to commute via boat across the river instead of bus over the Harbor Bridge.

The big steamer leaves the wharf of Bartica en route to Parika Stelling carrying people, vehicle and goods.

Before the advent of the Berbice River Bridge in Region 6, the big steamer was much more popular there also.
