Beautiful Scene in Sand Creek Village

Sand Creek Village is located in the South Rupununi Savannahs of Guyana, South America. It can be reached by driving one hour from Lethem.

To get to Sand Creek, one often needs to cross a small creek. Sometimes, the creek is high with water and sometimes it is dry. Here is a beautiful photo as we crossed the creek en route to Sand Creek Secondary.

The photo shows a group of secondary school students enjoying lunch at the foot of the beautiful mountains.

The village of Sand Creek in the South Rupununi Savannahs of Guyana got its name from a creek named Katu’wao, which, in the Wapishana language means “sand creek.”

This beautiful photo was taken from a speedboat leaving the Parika Stelling en route to Bartica. Speedboats, also known as water taxis, transport hundreds of passengers daily from Bartica in Region 7 to the Parika Stelling on the East Bank of the Essequibo River in Region 3, Guyana, South America.

The mighty Essequibo River is filled with natural wonders and breathtaking scenery.

This photo shows a picture of the road that leads away from the Lethem Airport to the village of St. Ignatius in the Rupununi Savannahs of Guyana, South America.

St. Ignatius Village, named after the Roman Catholic Saint, is home to the St. Ignatius Catholic Church, as well as several protestant churches. It has one nursery school, one primary school and one secondary school.

The village is located right next to Culvert City and Lethem in Region 9, Guyana, South America.

This photo shows the road leading from the roundabout near to the Takutu Gas Station in Lethem to the Lethem Airport in Region 9, Guyana, South America.

The Lethem Airport is served mainly by two local airlines: Air Services Guyana and Trans Guyana. It offers flights to and from Georgetown as well as occasional flights to the North and South Rupununi Savannahs.
