Known for its beautiful mountains and breathtaking scenery, Karasabai Village lies peacefully beneath the shade of the majestic Pakaraima Mountains in the South Pakaraimas District of Region 9 in Guyana, South America.

Geographically and culturally, Karasabai Village is part of the Rupununi Savannahs which encompasses all territories within Region 9 in Guyana, South America. It is located in the disputed Essequibo county – which the Venezuelan Government is claiming to be part of Venezuela.

The village of Karasabai forms a river border with the Brazilian city of Normandy (Normandia in Portuguese), and many residents of Karasabai cross over to Normandy to purchase Brazilian products and to travel further into Brazil.

Tourist Attractions in Karasabai Village

Aside from the tranquil environment and beautiful scenery, the village of Karasabai has recently started a tourism project to showcase the sun parakeet. For this objective, the Kezee Eco Lodge has been built.

How to Reach Karasabai Village

Karasabai Village is located about 200 kilometers from the Guyanese southern border town of Lethem. However, you can also access the village of Karasabai via the neighboring Brazilian city of Normandia. In Guyana, you first have to travel to the town of Lethem in Region 9.

Then you take the Lethem-Linden Trail and drive past several bridges. At Santa Fe, turn left into the detour and keep driving.

Turn left again and keep driving straight. After about two or three hours’ driving, you will reach Karasabai Village.

You can reach Karasabai by motorcycle, car, or other vehicle. I do not recommend riding, running, or walking to Karasabai village from Lethem!

If going by motorcycle, it is advised that you know what to do if you get a flat tyre as the trail is long and some parts may be rough.

There are many places along the trail with no cellphone signal and very little traffic, so if you get stuck on the trail, you can be in quite a predicament.

Also, there may be dangerous animals along the trail. If going with motorcycle, it is advisable to travel with company.
