Saxacalli Village, Region 3

Last updated: October 25, 2023 at 22:25 pmSaxacalli Village is located on the west bank of the Essequibo River some 25 miles (40 km) south of Parika at Coordinates: 6°35′N 58°37′W, in Guyana, South America. It was originally an Arawak community. Its present population of about 250 reflects Guyana‘s multi-ethnicity.
Economy activities in Saxacalli include small-scale logging, farming, and some tourism, mainly from the use of the Saxacalli beach by day-tour operators. The village, at the time of this writing (last updated October, 2023), is not accessible by road, nor does it have a source of electricity.
Saxacalli is an Arawak word for Kingfisher.
This community is reputed to have one of the best inland beaches in Guyana.
