As the entire country of Guyana still struggles to cope with the reality of the Mahdia Secondary School Girls’ Dorm fire which claimed the lives of 19 students and left several severely injured, persons have been weighing in on what can be done better in the future to prevent such tragedies from ever happening again.
A deadly fire ravaged the girls’ dormitory at Mahdia Secondary School in the town of Mahdia, Region 8, Guyana, South America leaving 20 dead and many more injured. According to the Department of Public Information, the fire started around 11:40 PM on Sunday, 21st of May, 2023. It is not clear at this time what caused the fire.
