The Moco Moco waterfall may be described as a sister falls of the Kumu falls since it is similar in size and appearance and is located a short distance away from the Kumu Falls. Both Kumu Village and Moco Moco Village are located about 30 minutes’ drive from the town of Lethem. The village of Moco Moco and Kumu are neighboring villages which are reached by picking slightly different tracks after leaving St. Ignatius Village when traveling from Lethem.
Despite its similarity to the Kumu Falls, the Moco Moco falls offers a unique experience and distinct scenery. You will especially love the beautiful flowers of Moco Moco Village – especially those that line the path as you approach the falls area.
Construction of a hydropower plant some years ago led to the creation of the 999 steps concrete stairway which, after the hydropower plant became defunct, served as a tourist attraction and was climbed for entertainment purposes and for testing one’s physical abilities. However, the reviving of the Moco Moco hydropower plant, which is presently ongoing, has forced the closure of the 999 steps stairway to tourists.
Below are some pictures of the Moco Moco Falls and its surrounding sceneries.
