Region 9 borders Region 8 (Potaro-Siparuni) to the north, Region 6 (East Berbice-Corentyne) to the east, and Brazil to the south and west. The administrative center of Region 9 is the town of Lethem.
Region 9 is the largest of the Guyana’s ten administrative regions and is also reputed to be the most scenic region with the greatest biodiversity. The Rupununi Savannahs are located between the Rupununi River and the Brazilian border.
Region 9 has just one town: the town of Lethem, which is also the administrative center of the Region.
