According to the sister of the young man, the victim, 23 year old Paul Robertson, was having an outing at the popular Jags Bar last evening when he was unexpectedly attacked from behind and stabbed. She said that she is not sure what triggered the attack but suspects it might have involved jealousy over a woman.

Paul Robertson reportedly received two stab wounds a little above his kidney and has been admitted to the Lethem Regional Hospital and is receiving medical attention, but the severity of the wounding is still to be confirmed. The tragic incident has left the Region 9 community in deep shock, outrage and sadness. Paul Robertson was a regular star performer at the Annual Rupununi Rodeo performances set to take place this week. His wounding is likely to render him unable to take part in the Rodeo this year.
The family of the well-known Rupununi vaquero contacted this publication this morning, 14th of April, 2025, to relate the stabbing incident which happened on the night of Sunday, April 13, 2025, or in the early morning hours of today, Monday, 14th. Initially, the family told this publication that eyewitnesses on the scene told them that the young man was stabbed by a GDF rank stationed at Lethem. However, investigations are currently ongoing, and GDF Lethem Base told this publication that there is currently no evidence linking any of their service members to the crime.

Originally, this publication posted that the youth, 23 year old Paul Roberston, was stabbed by a GDF rank, which was according to his sister. However, there is currently no evidence linking any GDF rank to the crime. Further, the owner of the Jags Bar in Lethem commented that up to the time of closure last evening, there was no stabbing incident on or around the premises that he is aware of.
When contacted for further comments, the relatives of the victim said that the incident did not happen inside of Jags Bar, but in front of it. They related that the young man had walked out a few meters away from the location to the streets to pass some urine when he walked pass two young men whom he described as “slim and dark in complexion.” Robertson told his family that these two men grabbed his knife from the holster of his waist and stabbed him suddenly.

Roberston said he then fell to the ground in pain. He was reportedly taken to the Lethem Public Hospital by two females on motorcycle. The family explained that eyewitnesses told them, on condition of anonymity, that Robertson’s attackers were GDF ranks. However, GDF Lethem denied this claim. Currently, there is no concrete evidence linking any GDF Lethem ranks to the crime. However, investigations are ongoing.
Since at this point there is not sufficient evidence to link any GDF rank to the crime, this publication retracts its original story and apologizes for any confusion or misunderstanding caused.. The original social media post made by this publication drew the attention of top media officials who pledged a thorough investigation of the case.
