As of today, 26th of November, 2023, exactly one week is left before the Maduro Regime executes is referendum whereby Venezuelan citizens go to the polls to vote on whether or not they want the government to annex the Essequibo county of Guyana into Venezuelan territory. The Venezuelan military has been activated and put on full alert. Its mandate is to “defend the Essequibo” after the presumably successful December 3 referendum.
Guyana’s President Irfaan Ali has started off the New Year with a bang by flying over to neighboring Brazil to attend the inauguration ceremony of his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva who won Brazil’s 2022 elections by a narrow margin.
Providing turnkey homes with available financing is not the only action the government is taking to put better roofs over the heads of citizens. President Ali announced on the 22nd of July, 2022 that his government will give massive support to persons building their own homes. This includes financial support through local banks and free construction material.
This morning, President Irfaan Ali handed over to 85-year-old Meena Bafan, the keys to her newly rebuilt home at Herstelling East Bank Demerara. The home was rebuilt by the Men on Mission (MoM) after the President saw its state during an outreach in late November. Men on Mission is a brainchild of President Irfaan Ali that engages Guyanese men in productive tasks across the country that helps the less fortunate.
President Irfaan Ali visited Tucville, a community located in South Georgetown. There, the President was warmly welcomed by residents in what was once an APNU/AFC stronghold. Further, the residents heaped praises in Ali for his performance in government so far, and thanked him for the landmark visit.
The Irfaan Ali Administration is blazing the trail of providing adequate and affordable housing for all Guyanese. It’s part of the PPP/C’s one-Guyana dream to see all Guyanese in beautiful homes. Indeed, adequate housing not only enhances the lives and adds to the net worth of residents, but also adds to the beautification of the Guyana. Through subsidies and financing via local banks, the Guyana Government will help Guyanese citizens to acquire these turnkey homes.
