On the morning of Sunday, 11th of December, 2022, President Irfaan Ali handed over to 85-year-old Meena Bafan, the keys to her newly rebuilt home at Herstelling East Bank Demerara. The home was rebuilt by the Men on Mission (MoM) after the President saw its state during an outreach in late November. Men on Mission is a brainchild of President Irfaan Ali that aims to improve and upgrade the lives of men across Guyana as well as engage Guyanese men in community building and charitable works.

On December 1, the Head of State led the dismantling and reconstruction of the home before the team of voluntary workers completed the project. While handing over the keys, the President emphasized that the project will be replicated. He explained that the MoM will construct 150 homes across Guyana for vulnerable persons who have their own lands.

He also lauded the collaborative effort of the private sector and the Government of Guyana, including the police force.

“I think this is a real testimony to who we are as a people, as a country, when we can come together like this, and to work with the private sector…this is what is going to transform our country and the way we think and feel about each other.”
