This publication was made to understand that the candlelight vigil at the Umana Yana in Georgetown was an initiative of President who also called for three days of mourning–suspending previously planned Independence Celebration activities. In the addition, the President has ordered that the flag raising ceremony planned for Independence Night be transformed into a night of prayer and mourning for the victims.
President Ali spared no expense in response to the deadly tragedy. His ministers were on the ground the next morning, and he arrived in the afternoon. The President said no effort will be spared in bringing comfort to those affected by the tragedy.
