I express heartfelt condolences to the parents, relatives, and students of Mahdia Secondary School on the passing of 13-year-old Sherana Daniels, who was hospitalized following the dormitory fire.
Sherana is the 20th victim of this tragedy. We pray that her loved ones are granted strength and courage during this difficult period. My government and all of Guyana continue to keep you in our prayers. Rest in peace and rise in glory Sherana!
This publication understands that two very critical students were flown to the USA for more specialized care. However, we are not sure if Sherana was one of the two or if she died in Guyana.
Meanwhile, the teenaged girl who was accused of starting the fire intently and maliciously has been charged and remanded to prison. She is expected to stand trial as an adult.
Team Guyana, South America expresses heartfelt condolences to the relatives and friends of Sherana Daniels. The whole country grieves with you.
