Last updated: February 8, 2025 at 8:33 amThe ongoing saga between local news outlet Guyana Daily News and Guyanese businessman Azzrudin Mohamed has escalated to dizzying new heights. Over the last few weeks, minor feuds between the two entities took the form of shady Facebook posts attacking each other. Mohamed made a video in which he criticized the government’s alleged slothfulness in completing the cash grant distribution process. Guyana Daily News, which appears to be a government backed publication, modified the video and dubbed it over to show Mohamed calling himself a thief and tax evader..
The plot thickened on February 6th, 2025 after Guyana Daily News posted a “Paid Advertisement” encouraging Guyanese citizens to show up at Mohamed’s office on February 7th for cash handouts. This led to nationwide outrage after nearly a hundred persons, believing the announcement to be true, lined up at the Lombard Street Office building even before daybreak. The announcement was a hoax, leading to sore disappointment and nationwide concern. Mohamed then came on air to condemn the action of the local publication and calling Guyanese to unfollow their Facebook page.
The war between the two local entities has now hit a climax as persons behind the Guyana Daily News appears bent on sinking the Mohameds. The Guyana Daily News yesterday, 7th of February, 2025, made a Facebook Post offering a reward of $200 million Guyana dollars to anyone who provides information leading to the conviction of a teen’s killer, who was killed in 2013, naming Team Mohamed’s in the said article.
The very people who look at all the naked truths that are clearly lying right in front of their eyes and then say, “Oh, everybody makes mistakes; Team Mohamed’s God is in control haters will vanish.” (Guyana Daily News – February 7th, 2025).
Backstory

In September 2013, a teenaged boy, Ryan Persaud, of West Bank Demerara, was hit by a bullet and killed near to his home. Local media said it was a “stray bullet” from a sporting team. A few weeks before, a “stray bullet” from recreational shooting activities had hit the house of the boy’s family. The numerous press reports on the story made no mention of the Mohameds, but said that a “city businessman” was arrested, questioned, and released for lack of evidence. The case was subsequently closed by police and no one was charged.
The Guyana Daily News Report of 7th of February, 2025 seems to suggest that the Mohameds were involved in the shooting.

Karma: A TINY PART OF JUSTICE WAS SERVED WITH SANCTIONS FOR RYAN PERSAUD, RIP!
200 million dollars reward for any information that leads to conviction for the Murder of Ryan Persaud
This is 14-year-old Ryan Persaud, who was fatally struck by a stray bullet at Vive La Force, WBD
The saint that you all are defending so boldly is the one who recklessly took the life of young Ryan.
He had his whole life ahead of him and big dreams, dreams of completing high school, dreams of going to the University of Guyana to further his studies, dreams of becoming a successful man, dreams of getting married, dreams of having his own family, dreams of providing a better life for his parents, and others, dreams of helping those in the very community where he died after his life was snatched.
The very people who look at all the naked truths that are clearly lying right in front of their eyes and then say, “Oh, everybody makes mistakes; Team Mohamed’s God is in control haters will vanish.”
How would you have felt had it been your son, brother, or family? How? Does his mother, father, and other relatives not deserve justice?
The way you all defend the wrong things this man has done speaks a lot about your characters, but you know what? God is real, and so are karma and hell.
Everyone distanced themselves from him. Let’s see who is going to obstruct the course of justice now.
If you have any additional information about Ryan’s murder, please inbox Guyana Daily News. Your identity will remain confidential.
