Police Pursuing Murder Suspect in Disappearance of Venezuelan Woman
7th of March, 2025. Guyana, South America. GSA News. Guyana News.
Last updated: March 7, 2025 at 18:38 pmPolice are actively searching for a murder suspect whom they believe abducted and murdered a young Venezuelan migrant in Guyana, South America. Miguelis Centeno Gerdez, a Venezuelan woman in her early twenties, was last seen and heard from on the 19th of February, 2025. After not hearing from her for over 24 hours, her family filed a missing person report and made various social media posts appealing to the public to help locate her. Her photos and description were shared widely on social media, but no word came in of anyone having knowledge of her. Investigators now believe she might have been murdered by a Brazilian truck driver, and they have posted a wanted bulletin for the suspect.

Miguelis is one of the thousands of Venezuelan migrants who fled the economic crisis in Venezuela to find work and possibly a better life in Guyana. She reportedly worked at a bar at Eccles, East Bank Demerara, Region 4. Her job sometimes required her to work late in the nights, causing her to sleep close to her place of employments sometimes. Friends of Miguelis said that they last saw her entering a truck, after work, at 1:00 AM on the day she went missing. They related that she hitched a ride to her home in Timehri from the truck driver who was unknown to them. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, things might have gone horribly wrong.

The GPF say they have evidence that the truck driver murdered Miguelis at Diamond, East Bank Demerara, Region 4, and that a decomposing body found at Mabura, Region 10, around the 5th of March, might be hers. They are now actively pursuing the suspect, Fernando Teles Pereira, whom they believe is a Brazilian national driving the Lethem/Georgetown route.

DNA testing is yet to be done to confirm the identity of the body found. Meanwhile, the family of Miguelis is still hoping and praying that she might still turn up alive. We join with them in prayers. And we ask all reading this article to keep an open eye out for the suspect, posted below, and help us bring him in to law enforcement as soon as possible.

Please share this post to help us bring in the suspect as early as possible.
