Subject: Outrage Over Neglect and Inaction Regarding Water Shortage at St. Ignatius Secondary School Compound, Region 9
We are writing this letter out of sheer frustration, anger, and desperation regarding the persistent and worsening water shortage at St. Ignatius Secondary School Compound in Region 9. This situation has gone on for years, but since September 2024, it has become utterly unbearable. Teachers at this institution are being subjected to the indignity of fetching water from long distances just to meet basic needs.
This is completely unacceptable in this day and age. Despite repeated calls for intervention, the Regional Education Department and the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) have turned a blind eye to this crisis, demonstrating a shocking lack of concern and accountability. What is even more infuriating is the behavior of the Regional Executive Officer (REO), who appears more focused on covering up this catastrophic situation than resolving it.
During visits from the Minister of Education, the REO has deliberately hidden the truth, ensuring that the real extent of this problem remains unknown. This situation is overwhelming and unsustainable. We can no longer endure these conditions while those in positions of authority continue to ignore our cries for help. Enough is enough! We demand the following actions be taken immediately:
1. A full investigation into the water shortage and the lack of action by the relevant authorities.
2. Immediate implementation of sustainable solutions to restore a reliable water supply to the resident teachers on the school Compound. We refuse to stay silent any longer. If this matter is not addressed urgently. Do not underestimate the seriousness of this issue. This is not just a plea—it is a demand for justice and respect.
Sincerely,
Resident Teachers of S.t Ignatius Secondary Compound
