In June 2022, we published an article about paranormal activities in Aishalton Secondary School in Region 9. Bizarre stories of paranormal activities have once again been reported in Region 9 schools. However, this time around, the phenomenon has been reported to be most pronounced in St. Ignatius Secondary School in Region 9, Guyana, South America. Parents of students attending the school are so worried that they are calling for the school to be closed pending investigations into what is attacking the students – especially those living in the dorms.

It is reported by students, teachers, and parents of students attending the school that students come under what they believe to be demonic attacks. Students, especially those living in the dorms, would faint, have difficulty breathing, bleed through their mouths, contract their bodies, scream, run away, etc. Some of the affected students were taken to the Lethem Regional Hospital. However, no medical diagnosis has to date been used to explain the condition.

Most residents, include parents and teachers, believe that the phenomenon is demonic in nature, and that demons are attacking the students. As such, spiritual leaders, particularly pastors, have been called in to pray over the students and the premises.

We as parent need to put our children in the hands of the Almighty, and they need to be delivered from the power darkness. Lets join with them in prayers. I am grieving with my child here…but I know with the help of God my child get over it. I also would like to thank you guys who are so concerned over our children. All what these children need is prayers. Let’s help them.

Since this week started a lot of children were possessed. It started with them fainting and now it got worse.

However, some residents are of the opinion that substance abuse might be responsible for the strange behavior.

One recommendation besides calling in a Pastor and other spiritual personnel to pray for the children….I know some persons might feel a bit offended. Please don’t! BUT the ministry of education can also collaborate with the hospital in trying to get some test kits to test for drugs in the body. (Please don’t feel offended parents), but we are living in a very dangerous time when we can’t trust kids or friend of kids or wicked people. I think they should run some drugs test on them when these things started happening just for precautions. Out there is very dangerous, a lot of people know about weed, but there are a lot of other drugs being circulated that teens are using secretly…we have the right to know if this is really a supernatural force we are dealing with or drugs in the system.

Headteacher of St. Ignatius School, Sir Kenrick Lewis, who is also a devout pastor, made the following statement on the 12th of November, 2022.

Statement by Sir Kenrick Lewis

Special Good morning to all parents, guardians, teachers and friends of St. Ignatius Secondary School. I would like to update you on what would have happened and presently happening at our Secondary school.

As of the past week, we had a number of cases of students who behaved in strange manners at our school. We prayed for them, pastors were called; it was becoming uncontrollable .The department of Education was informed and so too Lethem Public Hospital. Students were taken to the hospital just to find out that there was nothing medically wrong with them. This leads now to a spiritual warfare.

This problem is not only at St. Ignatius Secondary but at all the other Secondary schools in the region and out of the region. St. Ignatius Secondary last episode was in 2019 and wasn’t announced publicly; it was on a greater scale. This is nothing new to our region.

This can be as a result of occult practices and uncleanliness in the lives of individuals. Parents and guardians are called upon to fast and pray for our students.

We would like to declare Monday a day of fasting and praying for St. Ignatius Secondary School and other schools in this region.

All things are wrought through prayers.

God bless all of you as we unite for a common goal.

Keep on pleading the blood of Jesus on your homes, your children, yourself, your school and every you go. We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against power, against the ruler of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. So take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything to take your stand.

Ephesians 6: 12,13

Submit yourself then to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.

James 4:7

Special Thanks to all teachers, dormitory staff, students, education department, Lethem public hospital, regional democratic council, pastors, parents, friends who assisted/ assisting our school in these situations.

Above all thanks to Almighty God to whom all Glory belongs.

From Management and Staff

St. Ignatius Secondary School
