CCTV Footage Appears to Show Police Returning Fire After Suspect Opened Fire

CCTV footage of a police shooting today appears to show a police officer returning fire after a fleeing suspect opened fire. The robbery suspect was wounded after he was hit by police fire today in Rasville, Georgetown, Region 4, Guyana, South America. The incident, which took place today, 20th of February, 2025, sparked nationwide debate which manifested in the form of various social media posts and commentaries. Some called the police unjust for shooting, urging restraint, while others applauded the police officers for bravery and quick, decisive action.

Venezuela Vows to “Prosecute” those who Committed a “Criminal Act” in “their Guayana Esequiba”

On the 17th of February, 2025, the Guyana Defense Force reported that GDF soldiers patrolling in the Cuyuni River, near to the Guyana/Venezuela border, were attacked by members of a Venezuelan criminal gang known as the Sindicato. According to the GDF report, the Venezuelan gang approached them in a boat, circled the GDF boat, then opened fire. The GDF returned fire after which the Venezuelans fled. It was later revealed that six GDF soldiers were wounded while 3 Venezuelans were killed and several others wounded.

Venezuelan Government Accuses Guyana of “Aggression and Lies”

On the 17th of February, 2025, the Guyana Defense Force reported that GDF ranks were approached by a boat of armed men, suspected to belong to the infamous Sindicato Gang of Venezuela, while patrolling in the Cuyuni River near the Guyana/Venezuela border. The Venezuelan gang reportedly circled the GDF boat before opening fire. The GDF soldiers returned fire killing three Venezuelans and wounded several others. Six GDF soldiers were shot but are thankfully said to be in stable condition.

The ongoing saga between local news outlet Guyana Daily News and Guyanese businessman Azzrudin Mohamed has escalated to dizzying new heights. Over the last few weeks, minor feuds between the two entities took the form of shady Facebook posts attacking each other. Mohamed made a video in which he criticized the government’s alleged slothfulness in completing the cash grant distribution process. Guyana Daily News, which appears to be a government backed publication, modified the video and dubbed it over to show Mohamed calling himself a thief and tax evader..

Guyana Daily News Says that the Mohameds “Paid” for the Fake Facebook “Advertising”

On the evening of February 6th, 2025, a popular Guyanese News Outlet, Guyana Daily News, made a controversial Facebook post claiming that Team Mohamed’s will be sharing out cash grants to the first 1000 persons on February 7th, 2025. Persons were encouraged to show up at the Mohameds’ Lombard Street Office as early as 7:00 am to be processed, and to walk with proof of address and national identification. Read story here. The post caused mayhem as nearly a hundred persons were seen before daybreak waiting in front of Mohamed’s Lombard Street Office Building in Georgetown, Region 4, hoping to get their cash grant on a first come, first serve basis.

On the evening of February 6th, 2025, I was alarmed to see a Facebook Post by a popular Guyanese news outlet, Guyana Daily News, stating that Team Mohamed’s will be distributing cash grants of $100,000.00 GYD to 1000 Guyanese on the 7th of February, 2025 starting at 7:00 AM. The post encouraged Guyanese to show up at the gates and doors of the Mohameds as early as 7:00 AM on February 7th so as to be among the first 1000 persons who would receive the cash grants.

Miraculous: Young Boy Survives Deadly Africanized Bee Attack

A man was reported attacked and killed by Africanized bees while traveling with his son on motorcycle along Hunt Oil Stretch at Santa Fe, Region 9, along the Lethem-Linden Trail. According to proprietor of Greaves Transportation and Tours, Mr. Franklin Greaves, a member of his team saw the persons being attacked by the bees while traveling the route.
