Officials in Caracas have warned Guyana that the oil is located in disputed waters and that any extraction of oil in those territories is illegal.

On the 10th of December, 2018, NBC News reported that Russia sent two nuclear-capable strategic bombers to Venezuela after a visit to Russia by Maduro. With the humanitarian crisis deepening in Venezuela, and Venezuelans fleeing and dying of starvation, what could possibly be the purpose of two nuclear bombers? As one of my Facebook friends commented “that’s for Guyana…why else would they send it?” The question is, “is Guyana ready to receive this Christmas present?”

Militiamen and women needed to be ready “to go to the heart of the enemy who dares touch Venezuelan soil – to go to the heart of the enemy and to tear out his heart in his own territory”.

– Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro – Dec 17, 2018 – See Reference below.

Some time ago, Brazil announced it’s position on the Guyana/Venezuela border dispute, declaring that it will not tolerate Venezuelan aggression on Guyana’s shores. That was President Michel Timer. The new President, Bolsonaro has not issued a statement on the matter as yet. But even if Brazil is still willing to defend Guyana against Venezuelan aggression, the question still remains: Is Brazil willing to enter into an all-out war with Russia – the world’s second most powerful military? If it does, at what expense of money and human lives will that be done? And for what possible gain? More than likely, Brazil will NOT go to war with Russia for Guyana.
But what about the United States? The United States of America has already expressed its stance on the border controversy, stating that it is on Guyana’s side.

Speculation: It’s possible that the United States is just waiting for an excuse to invade Venezuela, arrest Maduro and try him for crimes against humanity. As Mr. Trump said, such a military operation would have been “easy,” but with Russia and Iran now backing Venezuela, it’s a whole new ball game.

But with so much trouble already on Washington’s hands, is it really ready to get into another costly war with Russia? And can the United States really beat Russia in a military conflict?

Fact: Putin warns that Russia’s “unparalleled weapons” should make the United States “think.” -18th December 2018 – See Reference Below.

While the United States’ military is generally stronger than that of Russia, the United States still has a lot to fear. First of all, Russia boasts more nuclear warheads than the United States. Russia also has 4 times more total artillery, 5 times more self-propelled artillery and 4 times more rocket artillery than the United States. While the United States has over 6000 tanks, Russia has over 20,000. On the other hand, the United States far overpowers Russia in air power, but even so, is the United States willing to enter a potentially devastating war against nuclear Russia and Venezuela over Guyana’s oil? Hardly.

Newsflash: On December 28, 2018, Fox News and the Express UK reports that the United States “fears” Russia’s newly developed “doomsday device.” – See reference below.

While most of Guyana are excited about their imaginary “first oil” in 2020, Caracas hasn’t withdrawn its stance that the Essequibo belongs to Venezuela. Remember, Venezuela has nothing to lose, and now, with Russia on it’s side, they are capable of just about anything.

On December 26, 2018, Reuters.com reports that Venezuela has sent formal protest to Georgetown against “exploration without consultation.” – See reference below.

If you doubt Russia’s capability of backing Venezuela against Guyana, do some research on what the Russians did to their own brothers and sisters in Ukraine, what they did in Crimea and what they’re doing in Syria, and you’ll deduce that they will have no reservations about launching an attack against Guyana.

Speculation: Venezuela presently owes Russia over three billion US dollars, and Russia is presently exploiting Venezuelan resources. Russian officials want Venezuela to have jurisdiction of the disputed oil-rich region so that they can exploit that too.

Considering that it would take only one nuclear bomb to wipe Georgetown completely off the map, and with the threat of Russian and Venezuelan air power looming over Guyana’s head like the sword of Damocles, you can be sure that if Venezuela commands Guyana to halt oil production, it will. And Guyanese will once again learn the old proverb they learned in primary school – don’t count your chickens before they are hatched – but this time, they will learn it the hard way.

Fact: For three years, the threat of US Military intervention has held the Venezuelan military in check. But as of December 10, 2018, Russia is keeping United States military intervention in the Guyana/Venezuelan dispute in check.

Or how about if Guyana continues to pump the oil and Venezuela drops the bomb? Then EXXON can take whatever is left of the oil without paying any Royalties. Or could this be a secret ploy between the United States and Russia so that the United States can add “Military Services” to the already exorbitant oil contract? I doubt it.

Reality Check: Guyanese politicians have staked the country’s financial salvation on the oil discovery. But will the oil prove itself to be black gold, or a black curse?

Earlier this year, President Granger announced that he has put  aside a part of the 18 million US Dollars sign-in bonus to “fight” the border controversy at the International Court of Justice. President Granger had said that he hopes the ICJ will rule in Guyana’s favor and that Venezuela would “respect” the ruling.
