Many Guyanese are worried right now. They’re wondering if Venezuela will succeed in its shameless attempt to annex the Essequibo. Some rest in the comforting confidence that they will not.
But whether they will or they will not, let’s not detract from the key word here, “shameless.” This attempt by Venezuela to annex and occupy the Essequibo is nothing short of barefaced, highway robbery. It is bullyism and theft, and evil in its purest form.
For the past two hundred years or so, the disputed territory was administered by Guyana. Those Venezuelan citizens who are singing that the sun of Venezuela rises in the Essequibo, and putting up stickers on their vehicles, were born to the Essequibo being administered by Guyana.
Yet they, along with their corrupt leaders, continue to sing and beat the drums of war. These people are nothing short of shameless thieves, low lives, and robbers.
