Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, today said the PPP/C Administration has been going the extra mile and actively playing its part in combatting climate change, as he called for greater accountability by developed countries in relation to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

With another three years to its first term in office, the PPP/C Government has no intention of slowing down its efforts that will see the vast economic, infrastructural and social transformation, which is already taking place across the country. Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues said the government is working towards delivering on all promises outlined in its 2020 manifesto.

Residents from various communities in the Mabaruma sub-district, Region One will soon have improved access to water service following the drilling of several wells. Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal recently conducted an assessment of several Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) sub-stations in the sub-district.

The PPP/C Administration continues to prioritise countrywide development and is working assiduously to deliver on its manifesto promises. The PPP/C Government has expended approximately $1 billion so far in 2022 to upgrade primary healthcare facilities across the country. This was disclosed by Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony in an invited comment to DPI on Tuesday.

Amerindian Leaders have been called on to practice financial accountability in their respective villages, in light of several reports of financial irregularities at village councils. The Guyana Lands & Survey Commission (GLSC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) are pleased to announce the commencement of aerial survey and mapping across the country using LIDAR Technologies. In the coming weeks, international expertise provided by Medici Land Governance (MLG) and its partners will conduct aerial surveying activities across Guyana using the latest – Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) aerial mapping imagery and technologies.

President Mohamed Irfaan Ali has restated his government’s commitment to ensuring the upliftment of Guyanese in every community across the country. The president, was on Tuesday, 1st of November, 2022 addressing residents of Den Amstel and neighboring communities in Region Three during an outreach.

Health Minister, Dr Frank Anthony says the same process applies for the administering of a computerised tomography (CT) as that of an X-ray, for patients requiring this service at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). This follows the recent announcement that effective November 1, 2022, CT scans are free for patients at the public institution.

The Health Ministry on Monday, 31st of October, 2022, launched the Pharmacy Assistant training programme in Region Two. Some 27 persons will benefit from nine months of training from a compressed curriculum. Health Minister, Dr Frank Anthony noted that with the expansion of the healthcare system, the need for medical personnel increases.

Committed to its promise to build a world-class healthcare system in Guyana, the government is moving ahead with the construction of seven new hospitals that will deliver quality health service to Guyanese in all regions. Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, in a recent interview, said the mobilization phase for the construction of the hospitals has been completed.

The long-awaited Presidential Commission of Inquiry (CoI) into the events of the March 2, 2020, General and Regional elections will officially begin public hearings on Friday. The commission already has more than 20 witnesses lined up to recount what transpired during the March elections and the five-month delay before the results were declared.

His Excellency Dr Irfaan Ali said that the developmental projects being implemented by the Government in Tucville, Georgetown, Guyana, South America are geared to enhance the community’s infrastructure and the well-being of its residents. The Head of State gave this assurance as he addressed scores of residents during an outreach in the community.

On Wednesday, 2nd of November, 2022, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali conducted a walkabout and met with a group of residents. He assured them that all steps will be taken to ensure they are relocated to safer and healthier communities.

So far, distribution of sanitary pads has commenced in secondary schools in Regions one, five, six and ten, while women from indigenous communities in region one are also benefitting from this project. It is my hope that in a few years, we will be able to provide full coverage to all women and girls in Guyana, making us the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to achieve this.

Guyana’s First Lady, Arya Ali, on Friday, 28th of October, 2022, graduated with an International Master’s of Business Administration (Strategy & Competitiveness Specialization) at Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business, the University of the West Indies (UWI).

A scathing video has surfaced on social media showing Guyana’s High Commissioner to India, Mr. Charandass Persaud, hurling expletives at a woman in India and telling her to put a dog between her legs. From the video, it appears that an altercation ensued between the woman and Persaud after Persaud removed a dog from his premises. The woman seemed to have been bargaining for a place for the dog to stay. This publication understands that the woman in the video is a professor and an animal activists.
