This publication has received information that a sluice door at Victoria Village, Region 4, has been broken, and the waters of the Atlantic Ocean are presently gushing into the village. Low lying areas, such as farmlands, have already been flooded, and residents are worried that the flood waters will soon climb to higher ground.

The dreaded monkeypox virus has already touched down on Guyanese soil infecting a public servant who worked on public transportation. That person is currently in isolation, but it is not clear how many other persons may be infected.

Police have said that the car in which the young groom met his death was trying to overtake another car going in the same direction when the fatal accident occurred. The accident occurred around 15:30 hours on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022, when motor car HC 7356 was proceeding east along the northern carriageway in Bath, West Coast Berbice, Guyana, South America.

A video surfaced on social media today, 24th of July, 2022, showing a team of persons struggling to rescue a man who was rendered immobile off the shores of Bartica after an apparent water accident. The person filming said that popular social media personality, Guyanese Critic, is one of the persons involved in the accident.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has today, 23rd of July, 2022, declared the monkeypox outbreak a Global Health Emergency. This means that a coordinated international response is needed to contain the virus.

While the world is still reeling from the backlash of the Covid-19 virus, and wrestling with the outbreak of the monkeypox virus, another highly contagious and even deadlier zoonotic virus has jumped onto the scene. Two persons have already died in Ghana, West Africa after being infected with the Marburg virus.

Monkeypox is spread from person to person through close contact with an infected person. This includes, but is not limited to, mouth-to-mouth, face to face, mouth to skin, and skin to skin contact. Most obviously, sexual contact with an infected person is likely to result in transmission.

A 16-year-old Guyanese girl has today, 15th of July, 2022, reportedly committed suicide at her home in the town of Mahdia, Region 8, Guyana, South America. Her first name was given as “Shana.” According to reports received, a relative of the teenager found her hanging by the neck in the upper flat of their home at around 6 p.m. today.

Residents of some sections of the Mabaruma township were temporarily left without electricity after a rubber tree collapsed during a period of heavy winds this morning. Luckily no one was injured.

Thinking of traveling down under but not vaccinated? Well now, it’s no worries anymore. Australia has joined the growing list of smart countries around the world to have removed all Covid-19 travel restrictions. That’s right. Now, if you wish to travel to Australia, you no longer need to show proof of vaccination, negative Covid 19 test, or be quarantined for any amount of time. In another words, travel to Australia has returned to the way it was during pre-pandemic times.

The island country of Trinidad and Tobago has become the latest in the growing list of countries to have removed all Covid-19 entry requirements for travelers to the destination. Now, travelers to Trinidad and Tobago do not need to show proof of vaccination, negative PCR test, or be quarantined for any amount of time. In other words, travel to Trinidad and Tobago has returned to the way it was pre-pandemic.

According to a relative of the woman killed in the accident, a white car on the left side lane had slowed down and signaled the biker to cross the road when the fatal Mandela Avenue accident happened yesterday afternoon, 29th of June, 2022.

A passenger speedboat carrying about 30 persons, including children and babies, went under the water in the Essequibo river today, 25th of June, 2022 at around 3 pm. Thankfully, no lives were lost, and this is thanks in part to some heroic acts that were reported during the incident.

The overflowing of the Cuyuni River yesterday drove flood waters up across several villages including Cumang and Korotokuh. Residents say the water has never been so high and worse yet, it’s still rising. One resident told this publication that their animals, including horses, cattle, and sheep, ran away into the forest last night as the flood waters rose. When they woke up, they could not find the animals.

The Covid-19 madness, and its ridiculous, unnecessary, and sometimes backward restrictions is going away bit by bit. So far, over 40 countries around the world have removed Covid-19 travel restrictions COMPLETELY. Others have done so only partially. The United States, for example, have recently removed Covid-19 testing requirements for travelers entering the US. Now, you don’t need to show a negative Covid-19 test to enter the USA. Travelers must still be vaccinated. Guyana has followed suit.

President Ali and his Ministerial Team were in Essequibo for Independence Day Celebrations when the tragic news of the three children who perished in an early morning fire reached them. According to a Live Report by the Guyanese Critic, the President and his team flew straight to the Police Club Sports Ground in Eve Leary, Georgetown and met with the mother of deceased children. Tracy Flur, 23, was apparently taken there by the police as investigations into the incident continue.

The tornado was relatively mild and occurred in a remote, sparsely populated farming area. Therefore, there was minimal damage to property or lives. Nevertheless, citizens sent in footage of the tornado on the ground as well as photos of a house which was damaged by it.
