However, the ongoing global pandemic, coronavirus, is causing many concerned persons to call for a cancellation of the 2020 Rupununi Rodeo. In addition, many Brazilians are pushing for a shutdown of the Guyana/Brazil border.
With over 3000 people dead from the virus and thousands infected, the fear of the virus is real. Already, many borders around the world has been closed or censored, and airlines are constantly cutting down on flights.
While the coronavirus pandemic is slowing down economic activities worldwide, it will definitely have a negative impact on the Guyanese economy if the 2020 rodeo is canceled.
