Looking at the news in Guyana from foreign countries, one may be tempted to compare the unraveling of events after the March 2, 2020 elections to a circus show. In fact, the Jamaica Observer did just that in one of their articles entitled, “It’s Time to End this Shameful Circus in Guyana.” First, there emerged a mysterious spreadsheet with fictitious figures, then a Returning Officer passed out during the tabulation process and the next day there was the story of the almost stolen flash drive.
We’ll talk more about the circus show in Guyana in another article. For now, things have taken a much spookier turn. There were stories of the dead and the undead voting, flying ballot papers and walking lists. It may sound unbelievable but you’re about to hear it right out of the horse’s mouth.
Take a look at this video in which APNU/AFC Minister, Amna Ally, explains that the dead got up, voted and went back to rest.
I bet you wouldn’t have believed that if you didn’t see and hear it yourself! But wait, there’s more. In a separate incident, another APNU/AFC minister by the name of Volda Lawrence said that a ballot paper left the hands of the presiding officer and flew across several Regions of Guyana. Here is the video.
And just when you think you’ve seen it all, here’s a video of the same APNU/AFC Minister, Volda Lawrence, saying that a list had feet, walked out of the polling station, took a taxi or minibus and entered into another ballot box in a different region.
