Body Suspected to Be Anisa Miguel to Arrive in Georgetown Tonight

Police have confirmed that a body suspected to be that of 19-year-old Region 9 teen, Anisa Miguel, was discovered floating in the Mazaruni River this morning at around 7 a.m. The discovery was reportedly made by a Brazilian miner. The body was clad in the same white top and blue jeans in which Anisa was last seen.

Police have made contact with Anisa’s closest relative, her aunt, Ingrid Miguel, to come to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation as soon as the body arrives to positively identify her and oversee the post mortem examination.

Although Anisa’s mother is still alive, she is somehow, for some unclear reasons, not in the picture at this moment. Anisa’s dad is elderly and unwell at this moment. As a result, Anisa’s aunt, Ingrid Miguel, will be shouldering all responsibilities for Anisa’s wake and funeral arrangements. Ingrid will also be taking legal custody of Anisa’s 4-year-old son.
