Last updated: August 13, 2022 at 15:57 pmOn the 21st of March, 2021, Ricardo Fagundes, a close contact of infamous former drug kingpin, Roger Khan, was gunned down outside of Palm Court Night Club. At Fagundes’ funeral ceremony about one week later, Roger Khan said that those bullets were meant for him, and that Fagundes died in his place, asserting that the hitmen mistook Fagundes for him.
With a clenched fist, Khan vowed that Fagundes’ killers will pay for his death, and sent a strong message to the Guyana Police that if they go after “the money” instead of following the leads, he will take matter into his own hands, suggesting that there will be dreadful consequences.

But over one year after Fagundes’ death, there have been no charges. On Friday, 12th of August, 2022, a Senior Detective who was involved in the investigations of the Fagundes murder case alleged that he was set up in a drug bust by CANU which took place on Monday, 8th of August, 2022. He further alleged that bribes were being taken to cover up the identity of Fugundes’ killers so as to stall the investigative process. He spoke of several failed arrest attempts.
In a Facebook Statement the officer implicated a prominent Georgetown business, Mohamed’s Enterprise, as a suspect or having knowledge of the execution of Fagundes. Mohamed’s Enterprise, in a statement made to Stabroek News, called on Bascom to retract his statement, offer an apology, and pay compensation.
According to Stabroek News:
The company also released a letter written by law firm Poonai and Poonai to Bascom alleging that Bascom had defamed company official, Azruddin Mohamed. The letter demanded that Bascom ceases and desists from the statements complained of, apologizes publicly and pays compensation.

In the meantime however, the man on whom the whole country is eagerly waiting for a statement, Roger Khan, has been eerily silent since his speech at Fagundes funeral last year.
