A US Firm is in the process of setting up a US$200 million oil refinery which will double as a Petrochemical Manufacturing Complex in Guyana, South America. The company, Chemtech International, plans to produce world class petrochemical products for the local and international markets.
The manufacturing complex will be located on 492 acres of waterfront land at Plantation York. The project, which is currently awaiting the greenlight from Guyana’s Environmental Protection Agency, is being financed by the United Securities Trust of Switzerland.
Some of the products will include:
Oriented Strand Board (OSB)
Veneer board
NPK (Nitrogen Potash and Potassium) fertiliser
Sulfur Coated Urea (SCU) slow-release fertiliser.
The oil refinery and manufacturing complex is expected to provide 300 permanent jobs for Guyanese and over 1000 jobs during construction.
